Greetings!

As you are experiencing, this school year will be a very different landscape
than ever before. Destination Imagination, Inc. (DII) has prided itself on
encouraging 21st Century skills in students, and this year will be a perfect
use of those skills.

In order to accommodate distance and virtual learning, DII is reworking all
of our challenges to be solved and presented virtually. As you might
imagine, the challenge is to accommodate teams worldwide. All of our
training and guides are also being reworked to reflect the changes. That
being said, DII plans to offer all 7 of our challenges this year. Virtual
Instant Challenges will also be offered.

If conditions change enough that gatherings are safe, we will have the
option of on-site Instant Challenges and Celebration of Creativity. If
allowed, we will hold our celebration at Park Maitland School on Saturday,
March 27, 2021.

The Technical, Scientific, Fine Arts, Service Learning, and Early Learning
Challenges will be released on November 1, 2020. The Engineering and
Improvisational Challenges will be released on December 1, 2020.

previews/> Challenge Sneak Peaks are available for some of our challenges
and will be updated as more information becomes available. Check back for
updates!

Our Technical Challenge will ask your team to go on an adventure in a video
game, using technical methods to design a team-created tool to win an
ultimate prize.

A Scientific Law will be broken in our Scientific Challenge. Your team will
create a documentary showing what the world would witness when a scientific
law is broken.

Music Video, anyone? For our Fine Arts Challenge, your team will mash
together music and literature to create a music video.

For our Service Learning Challenge, your team will create a podcast that
tells a story to highlight the amazing project you designed to meet a
community need.

Our Rising Stars (early learners preschool through 2nd grade,
non-competitive) will create a picture book about critters going on an
adventure and share it in a team-created video.

If you want to get started prior to November 1st, a collection of activities
and accompanying videos have been put together for teams who have purchased
their Team Number(s) for 2020-21. Topics include:

*	Improv Skills for Instant Challenge
*	Storytelling 101
*	Team Choice Elements: A Deep Dive
*	The Creative Process: Soup to Nuts

Once you have purchased your number, you can contact
<mailto:difl.info at yahoo.com> Florida DI to gain access to all of the
resources available.

As DII remains committed to the safety of our children, DII is administering
the Background Check process. When you purchase your team number, there
will also be a requirement to purchase a background check from Sterling
Volunteers.

There will also be an optional opportunity to purchase Team Manager
liability insurance from NFHS for a discounted price due to our new
partnership with this organization.
