VOLUNTEER WITH FLORIDA DI

We can use your help!

It takes a number of people to make Florida Destination Imagination a wonderful experience for our participants. No experience is necessary, only a positive attitude and a desire to be involved in the education of our Florida children. We provide training for all positions and teams of volunteers are led by some very experienced volunteers who work with Florida Destination Imagination all year around.

All volunteers must be aware of the DI Youth Protection Policy and sign the DI Code of Conduct. Volunteer time commitment will vary dependent upon your preference.

Tournament Support Volunteers commit to minimal online training and a couple of hours of duty at our tournament. Support Volunteers will handle tasks like registration, souvenir sales, playground monitors, etc., and will be able to work shorter periods. This type of position is ideal for team supporters, as they would be busy while their team is waiting, but could be free to watch team performance.

Tournament Support Volunteers should register so that we can contact you with more information.

Tournament Appraisers commit to more extensive online training as well as some “day of” training. Modules teaching the DI philosophy, the rules we all must follow and challenge specific training are all available to Appraisers. Appraisers must also commit the entire time a challenge requires, as the same appraisers must score all of the teams that compete in that challenge. They may not be able to see their own team’s performance the day of the tournament. Appraisers must enjoy talking with children and be able to appreciate and celebrate what the team has accomplished. This position is ideal for someone who might be contemplating becoming a Team Manager, or would like a better idea of DI Challenges. You’ll be amazed at what our teams have learned and created to solve their challenges!

Tournament Appraisers should register so that we can contact you with more information.

Team Managers have the most intensive time commitment, as well as the most rewarding, as you facilitate your team’s adventure, and help them to acquire the skills they need to attain for each step of the process. Team Managers have many resources available from Destination Imagination, Inc. including online learning, Guides, and virtual training sessions. You can draw on the expertise of experienced Team Managers from around the Globe, and the Florida DI Board is always available to help.

See the Team Manager General Information page for more information about becoming a Team Manager.

Affiliate Committee Volunteers assist us in bringing the Destination Imagination program to our Florida families. You would work from your own location, on your schedule to give us needed assistance. Some areas of need include promotion, grant writing and fundraising. If you have another skill you think would be valuable and you have a desire to be involved in the education of our children by sharing your expertise we would love to hear from you.

If you have a talent you'd like to share with us, please e-mail us at information@FloridaDI.org for more information on what help we are looking for.
